Welcome to the Linux Foundation Forum!

Section 2.1 cannot launch BUI - new session/site can't be reached

1. Initial install of Openstack - devstack version PIKE -  using./stack.sh

2. Install completes, no issues

3. Launched the dashboard (192.168.97.1), and it times out.

Other Notes,

Section 2.1,this command is not working on the lab setup.

ubuntu@devstack-cc:~/devstack$ ip addr show ens3

Device "ens3" does not exist.

Comments

  • try ip addr show, You'll see all interfaces

By the way in the lab notes for section 2.1 I see " ip addr show eth2"

Where did you get your lab notes?

    Hello,

You will need to use the output of the ip addr show command on your system to determine your public IP. Nodes have different interfaces, so what I see on my system will probably be different than on your system. The attempt was to use a process that it could be useful on many systems, so that no matter if you are using the online lab equipement, the lab equipment changes, or your own system is used you could find the correct interface.

The 192.168.x.y address is a private IP address, just as 10.x.y.x. A look at the interfaces using ip addr show shows this:

    2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state UP group default qlen 1000 link/ether bc:76:4e:04:45:35 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff inet 166.78.151.43/24 brd 166.78.151.255 scope global eth0 valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever inet6 2001:4800:7812:514:be76:4eff:fe04:4535/64 scope global valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever inet6 fe80::be76:4eff:fe04:4535/64 scope link valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 3: eth1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state UP group default qlen 1000 link/ether bc:76:4e:04:8e:34 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff inet 10.100.32.12/20 brd 10.100.47.255 scope global eth1 valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever inet6 fe80::be76:4eff:fe04:8e34/64 scope link valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 4: eth2: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state UP group default qlen 1000 link/ether bc:76:4e:04:40:2e brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff inet 192.168.97.1/24 brd 192.168.97.255 scope global eth2 valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever inet6 fe80::be76:4eff:fe04:402e/64 scope link valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

In this example, we could tell that eth1 and eth2 are not the Public facing IP because of the IP address in use. A look at eth0, again in this case, uses a 166.76.151.43 IP, which is a public range IP.  Please try that interface, let the forum know if you continue to have issues.

    Regards,

I'm having the same issue. I see this from the command:

    ubuntu@devstack-cc:~/devstack$ ip addr show ens3
    Device "ens3" does not exist.

My problem is the public IP for eth0 points to an existing site for some security company...

Trying to navigate to 198.101.238.29 doesn't take me to the Horizon dashboard, but rather the login landing page for some company called MSS CRM...

  • In section 2.1 When I click the "Launch Lab Environment" it encountered the errors "Forbidden

    "
Could you please assist me on this to launch the lab.

  • When clicked "Launch Lab Environment" https://dfw-labs-2.exams.linuxtrainingservices.org/course/LFS252/lab2 URL is not working says errors "Forbidden

Hi anumodputhukulam, when did you sign up for the course? If you just enrolled, it takes 1-2 business days to receive access.

  • I signed up for the course yesterday 01/09/2018(saturyday) so when will I get the access?

  • fcioanca
    fcioanca Posts: 1,886

It takes 1-2 business days (Monday-Friday, no holidays) to get access. Please keep in mind that tomorrow is also a holiday in the US, so it does not count as a business day. By mid next week, you should have access.

  • The openstack training for this course is from Mirantis/Redhat/Canonical/Ubuntu/SUSE which one this openstack training belongs to ?

You signed up for LFS252, offered by The Linux Foundation

  • Ok thanks

  • Also could you please let me know the COA certification provided by Openstack foundation or any other vendor?

If you bought the bundle LFS252 plus COA, you will find all necessary information provided with your enrollment and in your portal. As far as certification provided by other vendors, please do your research online, as we cannot provide information related to non-LF products.
