  • Any updates on this? Do they reschedule the exam if this happens to you? And for how long do they respond?

    Hi, on Ubuntu 22, I fixed it, by untaring the .tar file that gets download when you press "Install PSI Secure Browser", and then running that executable that is inside the tar. That file is already with execute permissions, so you just run ./PSI-blah-blah and a window will pop up for you to install the browser and start your exam.
    Also, if you are on Ubuntu 22, running "wayland", you'll have to swap to Xorg, by logging out, and then clicking on the wheel at the bottom-right corner of your login screen. • This is really unbelievable. I experience the same problem on my Ubuntu 22.04 system. Did the system check and all was fine.
    Where on earth can i download the psi secure browser?

    Hi everyone!

    Second time I try to take my exam but it is impossible to launch the psi browser. I created a ticket the first time but it is still the same..."An unexpected error occured on the server."

    It is frustrating and annoying, and obviously the worst experience ever.

  • Here for the same.. I have a support ticket opened. I have no idea whats going to happen at this point but I have personal commitments and cant wait around the whole day for this. If this is typical behavior. Please provide guidance in the exam portal for this.]

    On another note. Why can we not take this in exam locations??? That should be optional!

    ********In before "open a ticket with...": I already did that and still no response**.******

    Similar problem for me with the PSI secure browser. Seems like this is causing a lot of problems, maybe it should be done away with.

    My computer passed every phase of the Exam Preparation Checklist > Check System Requirements

    I downloaded the PSI secure browser, and when I went to take the exam, PSI opened, but it sat here for well over 20 minutes just saying "please wait while the system is loading". And it never did load.

    So I uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted my computer, and all that.

    When I got on the phone with PSI support, they took control of my computer and were poking around in the device manager, disabling sound devices, and then when they wanted to start uninstalling drivers from my computer that works perfectly fine otherwise, I told them NO, and ended the call.

    They did not seem to know what they were doing. I completely missed my exam, which I took time off of work for and studied quite a bit for. Very upsetting and quite disappointing.

    I hope that did not count as one of my attempts, because if so, that is not really fair. It was not my problem, it was the PSI browser. I am not the only person having issues with the PSI browser.

    Here is a personal experience from the CKA exam I took yesterday. To prepare for the exam, I tried running the PSI Secure Browser during the three practice attempts provided, and ran into some issues.

    First, I attempted to run the browser on a Debian 12 notebook. After extracting the PSI-SecureBrowserSetup_pd_M1z... binary and executing it, it began to download the actual PSI Secure Browser, but it wouldn’t start. Instead, I encountered an error message along the lines of “unable to load configuration,” with the only option being to quit. I experienced the same issue on an Ubuntu 24.04 notebook I had set up as a backup.

    Unfortunately, these failed attempts used up my trial runs. I contacted PSI support for more, but they weren’t able to assist further.

    On the actual exam day, I used the Ubuntu 24.04 notebook again. After clicking the 'Launch' button on the PSI webpage, it downloaded the PSI-SecureBrowserSetup_pd tar file again. I unpacked and ran it via the command line, but encountered this error:

    ...
    msg = <-messages: "Downloaded"
    runCommand 0xc00001c120 /home/skoenig false /usr/bin/xdg-desktop-menu [uninstall /home/skoenig/.local/share/applications/psi-bridge-secure-browser.desktop]
    runCommand 0xc00001c120 /home/skoenig false /usr/bin/update-desktop-database [/home/skoenig/.local/share/applications]

    msg = <-messages: "Uninstall done"
    msg = <-messages: "Finishing"
    msg = <-messages: ""
    runCommand 0xc00001c120 /home/skoenig true /usr/bin/update-desktop-database [/home/skoenig/.local/share/applications]
    runCommand 0xc00001c120 /home/skoenig true /usr/bin/xdg-desktop-menu [install /home/skoenig/.local/share/applications/psi-bridge-secure-browser.desktop]
    AppImage exited error exit status 1
    ...

    When I tried running the AppImage directly using this command:

    /bin/sh -x -c $HOME/.config/com.psiexams.psi-bridge-secure-browser/PSIBridgeSecureBrowser.AppImage

    I got an error saying that the AppImage required FUSE and that libfuse.so.2 was missing.

    After some searching, I found the missing library in the libfuse2t64 package and installed it. However, on the next attempt, a new error appeared, suggesting that AppArmor was blocking the AppImage from starting. I ended up disabling and completely removing AppArmor, then rebooted the system. After deleting the existing PSI Secure Browser files and downloading them again, I ran the browser from the file manager (instead of the terminal), and finally, it worked.

    This whole process unfolded while I was chatting with PSI customer support, with the exam already officially in progress. It was a stressful experience, and I even considered rescheduling the exam at one point.

    It really should be noted on the system requirements page (https://helpdesk.psionline.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4409608794260--PSI-Bridge-FAQ-System-Requirements) that AppArmor must be disabled or set to permissive mode in order to run the PSI Secure Browser.

    If this post helps even one candidate avoid a similar headache, it was worth writing.
