LAB3.1 ssh [email protected] permission denied

Created my instance per lab 3.1 but when I try to log into it I can't authenticate.  I keep getting permission denied try again even after I double and triple check the login and password.

ubuntu@devstack-cc:~/devstack$
ubuntu@devstack-cc:~/devstack$ ssh cirros@10.10.129.255

    Hello Freddie,

Two possibilities I can think of:

    1) The IP address is not correct. Double check that this is the IP of the instance, instead of one for the hypervisor. When you log into Horizon and go to Projects -> Instances   Is this the IP for that instance at the moment?

    2) Are you typing or copy-pasting the password? As the password ends with colon-RightParens you local system could change it to be a smile face instead. Just to double check the password is nine characters long: cubswin:)

If neither of these works then maybe we can set up a time when you'll be at this point in the lab and we can figure a way for me to view your instance.

    Thanks for your patience!

  • Same problems. Below is the output from when I create my instance so I'm assuming my IP=10.10.128.255, ID=cirros, PWD=cubswin  AmIRight?

    Freddie,

I note that in your comment you have ommitted the colon and the right parents. It is c-u-b-s-w-i-n-:-)  Nine characters. In your comment you said you typed cubswin, or seven characters.

What, exactly, are you typing in as the password?

If you are typing nine charaacters as the password, please double check the IP listed in the BUI. Did you check the IP from the BUI or the nova list command?  What, exactly, is the passowrd listed in the BUI?

    Regards,

I just ran the lab again, and was able to get in. I think it's that you are not typing the : and the ) at the end of the password. This is what my terminal looks like

    ubuntu@devstack-cc:~/devstack$ ssh [email protected]
