native multitouch support on linux
heej peoples,
i got an question... what kind of operating system do i need to use to get native multitouch support on linux running on journ.e touch???
and i know that you wanna know the specs of this thing so here they are!
• 7’’ 16:9 Touch Screen Panel (800×480 resolution)
• Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g Wireless
• Wi-Fi: support WEP,WPA, WPA2
• WinCE Pro + IE 6.0 (browser) +MSN (message/voice)
• 2200 m Ah Li-polymer internal battery
• Memory Cards Support: SD*, MMC, MS and MS Pro, xD (*SDHC: supported up to 32GBB)
• Internal Memory: 2GB Nand Flash
• Docking station: HDMI TV out, Charging

• Supported File Format: Picture: JPEG, BMP; Audio: MP3, Video: Mpeg4. H.264

From kernel documentation: The first kernel driver to utilize the MT protocol is the bcm5974 driver, where examples can be found.

In any case, this is a work-in-progress. The issues to resolve are myriad and difficult, to say the least. However, there is some support for MT capabilities in the current Linux kernel, but which devices are supported are limited. My suggestion is to contact the device/pad manufacturer to determine what MT chip set they are using, and then looking to see if it is in the currently supported device list.0 -
