Problem in linux ubuntu 10.04

hi

it's the first time for me to experience linux so i don't know anything about it.

i installed linux ubuntu 10.04 successfully

it only works for a few minutes then the mouse and the keyboard start to stop working, they completely freeze then i have to restart the computer

i hope i can find here a solution to this problem

    Do only the mouse and keyboard stop working or do you get other signs like a blinking power light on the system, blinking lights on the keyboard, does the video stop playing, do other external device light blink?

    And how did you obtain the installation medium?

    no the mouse and keyboard just stop working completely so that i can not perform any operations on the system
    no light blinking
    and the installation medium i downloaded it

    It sound like a kernel panic resulting for a corrupt kernel file.

    Did you confirm the md5sum of the iso when you downloaded it and did you verify the integrity of the disk after it was written?
