Which MBOX conversion format is best for long-term email archiving?

I have several old MBOX files from Thunderbird that I want to store safely for many years. I am confused about which format would be best for long-term preservation — PDF, EML, PST, or something else. I need a format that keeps email content, attachments, and metadata intact. What do you recommend for reliable long-term email archiving?

    I believe that PST or PDF files are the best for keeping emails for a long time. If you use Outlook, PST is great because it protects the folder organisation and all of your email information. PDF is also good because it's simple to open and is commonly used for records. When I moved my MBOX files, I used Softaken MBOX Converter Suite, and it worked great.
