Virtual Machine Setup
Hello, am I supposed to download a certain version of virt-manager to complete this section? There aren't instructions for this. If we are, then which version? Also, I'm running on MacOs/Chrome. Is there a preferred browser for this course?
yum install virt-manager (Fedora) apt-get install virt-manager (Debian) emerge virt-manager (Gentoo) pkg_add virt-manager (OpenBSD)

you don't need a VM to complete this LFS151, just read and understand the content of the course

Hi @jessiridge,
[EDITED for clarity]
The latest release of virt-manager should work. A virtual machine may be helpful if you desire to follow along some of the demo guides, to prevent permanent changes be made to your host workstation. The Virtualization chapter, however, intends to introduce VM provisioning software that can be used for that purpose, operated directly from the host workstation.

Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I cannot find any demo videos. What software is recommended/required to download for this course? I'm looking for instructions but am finding nothing.
Thanks,

Hi @jessiridge,
Apologies, my earlier response was out of context. The select sections demonstrating the usage of technologies may require some pre-installation and configuration. I recommend following the official installation and configuration instructions of the respective technology, accessible through a link typically found at the top of the demo page. I also recommend paying close attention to the supported host operating system and hardware requirements, as not all presented technologies are supported by all native operating systems (Linux distributions, macOS, or Windows).Regards,
-Chris0
