Need help with shell scripting

Hello Experts,

I'm new to Linux/shell scripting. Could you please help with below script requirement ?

folder 1 will have source files ;

test.one.20191217101010.txt
test.one.20191217121212.txt
test.one.20191217131313.txt
.
.
.so on

Folder 2 will have response files :

test.one.20191217101010.RPT
test.one.20191217101010.STS
test.one.20191217101010.POSTING
test.one.20191217121212.RPT
test.one.20191217121212.STS
test.one.20191217131313.RPT
test.one.20191217131313.STS
test.one.20191217131313.POSTING
.
.
.so on

Folder 1 # will have the source file like : test.one.timestamp.txt
Folder 2 # will have response files of source file like : test.one.timestamp.RPT , test.one.timestamp.STS, test.one.timestamp.POSTING(optional – may or may not get it in the folder2)

Folder # 1 & 2 would be flooded with huge no.of Source & response files.

Need script for below function :

1.Capture timestamp value (which is dynamic & unique) in a variable from Folder 2 files , one at a time.
2.Search for files in the folder 1 & 2 matching the filename with this variable
3.Zip all these 3/4 files and create a zip file as test.one.variable.zip
4.Send this zip files to multiple users via e-mail
5.Archive the processed files from folder 2 to folder2/archive folder

Appreciate your help in this regard.

Thanks,
Lakhan

  • Hi @lakhan49,

it isn't clear which script do you want to create.

There is the command date for have the timestamp value (depends also what you need to see if only date, time or other things), mail command or variants to send emails.

I don't understand what it is the scope of this script and what it must do. It is a script that implements a quiz?
