Password for lfstudent login docker hub

Chris, I can't locate the password for docker hub in the 253 class. I am working on lab 5.1 and I have created my own log in as instructed but it cannot find any image repositories, I think this is due to the fact that I have to log in as the lfstudent account but I don't know what the password is to it? all it has is 8-stars to signify there is one. So if I could just get the password for it I can continue on with the lab.

    Hi @dctheroux,

Each user is responsible for safely storing their passwords, once they have been setup with any login account.

The lfstudent ID is used in the course material only as an example. Your ID may be different.

    Regards,
    -Chris

  • I cannot access ant of the lfstudent repositories because I believe I nee this password.
    sudo docker image pull myregistry.com:5000/alpine:latest
Error response from daemon: Get https://myregistry.com:5000/v2/: net/http: request canceled while waiting for connection (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)

    Hi @dctheroux,

In case you missed my previous comment and an earlier discussion in the forum, the lfstudent ID and myregistry.com are only used in the course for illustrative purposes.

While not mandatory, if learners desire to follow along this exercise, they are expected to sign up themselves with Docker Hub to create their own user IDs, with their own passwords, for free. Then, replace lfstudent with the newly created ID and type in the user password at the prompt. Similarly, myregistry.com can be replaced with a custom registry (if the learner has one) - again, it is not mandatory.

    Regards,
    -Chris
