Linux solutions to root and restore mobile phone as new

Hi Guys,

I just bought a second hand mobile phone (Huawei Y200-U00 with Android 2.3.6) but I would like to restore it exactly as new

There are many apps that don't work, I guess the last owner of this phone has done some custom hacks this is why I want to totally remove the content of the phone and to reinstall everything as new

I have USB cable and a laptop running Linux Debian

Per chance does someone know if this is doable ?

I have never installed a Linux distro on on an android device. The instructions for this procedure, for me, was overwhelming. Some have successfully accomplished this. Your device must be rooted, meaning, the normal user must unrestriced access to the system, this means commands that run in a terminal or shell.

I was just reading an article that instructs an interesting procedure of installing a full blown Linux distro on an android device.

You might start there, but beware that they guard that space very carefully.
