Lab 2 Start the Peer Container-syntax error

I need some help. I'm not able to find this error can someone please assist?

    I deleted my VM and started over again. and at the end of Lab1 i follow the "Bootstrap the Basics" and end with the last instruction: ./startup.sh. and at the end i receive this message:

    docker-compose -f docker-compose.yml down
    /usr/local/bin/docker-compose: 1: /usr/local/bin/docker-compose: Syntax error: redirection unexpected
    rm: cannot remove './startup.sh': No such file or directory
    rm: cannot remove './startup.sh': No such file or directory

    Please advise on how to fix this syntax error. Thank you
