in Getting Started with Linux

I have been trying to use a live CD of Back Track 3, it starts up but the desktop is split into parts. you can see most of the desktop but not all of it. The laptop is a Dell INSPIRON 8000 LAPTOP P3 700MHZ 10GB HDD 512MB RAM. It is running Win 2K just fine. I am thinking of just installing backtrack as the main OS, can anyone help me here?

    It probably has something to do with graphics drivers not being set correctly by the live cd. Try booting up with xmodule=vesa as a boot code and see if that helps.
