What are the Gcloud VM recommended settings

The labs starting from chapter 3 mention using vm's on GCP. There doesn't seem to be a mention of the recommended config settings for the master/worker vm's. I had to restart Lab 3.1 because my instance doesn't have enough CPUs for kubeadm init. For the users who are going through this alone, what are the steps to reach environment parity with the instructor-led users?
