vmstat overview for newbies

Hi there,

I've created my own, IMHO not bad, overview of vmstat command:

It's here: http://blog.cyberlynx.eu/2014/cool-utility-vmstat/

What I want to do is to help newbies to understand some concepts of virtual memory.

I've noticed many vmstat manuals on the Net, but most of them are incomplete or too

complex for a simple person to understand. I've just tried to fill the "gap" between

lame and complex vmstat readings.

Any suggestions appreciated!

  • Hi Ivan,

May I know from the vmstat output, is there anyway to calculate the total virtual memory on the OS?
