new LTS distribution
in Ubuntu
Just a few questions. Firstly, will the distribution (14.04) be automatically updated to the latest, as in a rolling distribution, or will I have to do it? I have been reading alot about the newest distro maybe being rolling, but am not sure if it is. Secondly, will all my data be automatically moved to new distribution or will I have to start over? I like the new distro, but since I've had problems with former updates, I am hesitant to change. I know that I can keep present distro, but the bugs "bother" me, They cause changes in appearance, and problems when turning on sometimes going to guest log in. (This has happened before, often shortly before new distro release.)
Thanks in advance for any help.

It will not upgrade itself, you have to do something.
Look at e.g. https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/ubuntu-lts-update-dist-upgrade/ . That tells you how to upgrade from one LTS to the next LTS.The important thing is editing the file /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades
Brand new releases of Ubuntu can have their initial problems. Hence "Do not be an early adopter". 14.04 LTS will last to August this year, so no rush
Thanks, instructions are easy to follow. I'm in no hurry.
