Dual Booting

Hello,

I just built a laptop that is running Windows 7, has 12GB of RAM, i7 processor, and 1TB of memory with no disk drive. As a noob to Linux, I wanted to know what is the best way to dual boot Ubuntu and Windows?

    1TB of memory? I assume you have storage of 1TB in your laptop.:)
    Here is my recommendation:
    - Installing Ubuntu using USB stick. http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows

    Alternativelly, you can tun Linux on top of VirtualBox on Windows7. https://www.virtualbox.org/

    Thank you for the prompt response! Now with using the USB method, will I have to run/boot Ubuntu using the USB each time? I'm looking to have Linux on installed permanently on my computer.

    As far as I know the wubi installer no longer exists, so you will need to shrink some of the partitions on your system to make room for ubuntu to be installed. Lead at least 50GB of unallocated disk space for ubuntu. Once you have space, you can boot from an installation usb of disk image and install in the free space, thee bootloader should automatically load itself for dual booting.
