Transfer a folder over the network using command line

Hello Friends,

I'm new here and not a Linux expert, I need a help to transfer a folder from my Linux email server to a client over my network. Can be Mac or PC. I don't know the commands in order from my server copy to a different location. Help will be appreciated.

    I recommend setting up ssh with sftp. Through that you can use filezilla on any OS to securely trasnfer files.

    If you can tell me which linux based distro you are using then I can find guides to accomplish the necessary tasks.
