i am beginner in linux. i wont to build linux mail server wich one is the best. and how to install and configure it. Also i have one question is the linux server compatibility with outlook ? plz help

    Postfix is a popular mail server which should be available in nearly all repos. For administration you may want to use the config files or you can install webmin (http://www.webmin.com/) for a user-friendly interface for configuration.

    As for outlook compatibility, you can configure outlook to use the postfix server, a simple instruction for the outlook configuration can be found at http://postfix.state-of-mind.de/patrick.koetter/smtpauth/smtp_auth_mailclients.html

    Mail servers are not really known for being easy to configure and not for beginners. If you decide to set one up I suggest Postfix (it is easier to configure than sendmail) and also reading a lot of man pages. Try to practice what you read, not just read it.
