Open Port 2222 ?

Hi All.

I am basically NEW to Linux, but got no responses to asking the following, via the Newbies Forum.

I have managed to set up a simple server using Apache2.2, with some assistance from a friend.

But I perceive that I need to "Open Port 2222" to enable individuals on the Internet, to see the information that the specific software is generating.

Can't get my brain around "Open Port 2222" !!!!

I'm using Debian 6.0.3

Any help, would be very much appreciated.

Cheers Dave.

Are you trying to allows users on the internet to log into the server via ssh? If this is the case, install openssh-server which will install a default configure file the has port:2222 open.

    I don't understand your question.

Why do you need to open that port? did you make the apache server listen on it?

Anyway, it you do not have a firewall in place the port should be open...

And if you do have a firewall installed, open the firewall's gui and open the port. I don't know if or what firewall you're using so we can't tell you exactly how to open the port. If you installed apache, then, you must have been given the ability to enable a firewall at some point.
