help installing linux

Hey my name is Tyson im new to this forum,

So I'm running windows 10 on my laptop. I have about 400gb free space wich is just sitting there. So what i want to do is have my laptop be able to run both linux and windows 10 without the use of a booteble usb flash drive. (simply just because why not)

What I first did is split my hard disk into 2 disks 1 is my orriginal windows disk:C

and the other one i made for my new linux machine is disk:E

I made it an ntfs disk so my windows can see it.

Now right here I am getting into trouble can i just burn my live boot image on this disk and instead of run it live or run persistance run the install ?
