Unresponsive mousepad

Hey all,

I have my laptop partitioned b/w BioLinux and Windows. The only issue that developed during installation was that while my mousepad (on my laptop) works fine on Windows, it's completely unresponsive (to movement, pressure and clicking) on Linux. I have a USB mouse that works and so I'm using that now but does anyone have any ideas on what the issue could be with the mousepad and how I could go about fixing it?

Note: I've tried tweaking all the setting I can think of but no change.
