What file on a linux-box should have 777 permissions

Hi,

This is a question that I have good talks about with friends.

Even though most linux-systems have files with 777 permissions, I can't see that there is a good reason for it.

if the file is a scripts that the world is allowed to execute, then world should not be allowed to change it.

if the file is something that the world can read and write then it should not be executable

let me know what you think , and if you have examples that would be great
