FlashUSB read/write cycles limit.

I have a laptop with a dead HD, i am currently using Mint17.1 Cinnamon 32 Bits LiveCD. I have a 3.6GB USB and a 7.3GB, i saw somewhere on the internet that flash USB's have a read/write limit, like 5ktimes or something like this. Is it secure to my USB that i use it like a HD? I want to install xubuntu 15 on it, install drivers and use, but i am worried about the read/write cycles, will my pendrive last less time if i do it?. I use the computer every day for like 9 hours.
