LFS158 Deprecated Content - ExternalIPs

Hello,

In the LFS158 course, "ServiceType: ExternalIP" page should be removed:

https://trainingportal.linuxfoundation.org/learn/course/introduction-to-kubernetes/services-1/services?page=11

Because as of Kubernetes 1.36, .spec.externalIPs is formally deprecated:

Also, naming it "ServiceType: ExternalIP" was misleading, because "ExternalIP" is not a Service type. It is a Service spec field (spec:externalIPs). But I believe the entire page needs to be deleted anyway.

    Hi @emrebener

Thank you for flagging it. The current course content is still valid in relation to Kubernetes v1.29.1, the version it is using. However, we are planning to update the course by the end of the year.

    Hi @fcioanca

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't aware that the course was targeting a specific Kubernetes version, let alone a 2.5 years old version. This is especially concerning for a fast-moving tool like Kubernetes. Does this situation apply to the certification exams as well? Can KCNA exam (for example) contain currently deprecated (or superseded) content? I was under the impression that I only had to focus on modern Kubernetes (latest version).

This is not tied to the certification exam.
