General distro customization

They say Linux is customizable, but there are packages I uninstall that cause the system to break—for example, if I uninstall Python and Perl, Firefox stops opening.

Then there are pre-installed applications that trigger a "not found" warning when I try to uninstall them.

Installing packages and programs via the package manager is easy, but when installing from source, they usually only distribute the source code for Linux systems; some require specific dependencies, yet even after compiling and installing them, I still get errors claiming they are missing.
