Getting Started with Serverless on Kubernetes – Introduction & Goals

Hello everyone,

I’m excited to be part of the Introduction to Serverless on Kubernetes (LFS157) course and to collaborate with others exploring this space.

I come from a background in cloud engineering, with experience across infrastructure, automation, and platform design in both AWS and Azure environments. My primary focus has been building scalable, secure systems using infrastructure-as-code and scripting (especially PowerShell and Linux-based tooling).

I’m taking this course to deepen my understanding of serverless architectures within Kubernetes, particularly how frameworks like OpenFaaS can be leveraged to improve deployment velocity, reduce operational overhead, and support event-driven workloads at scale.

Some areas I’m especially interested in:
• Real-world use cases for serverless on Kubernetes vs. managed cloud serverless
• Operational considerations (scaling, observability, security)
• Best practices for integrating serverless into existing microservices architectures
• Lessons learned from running OpenFaaS in production environments

Looking forward to learning alongside everyone here, sharing insights, and discussing practical implementations.

If anyone has experience running serverless workloads in Kubernetes—or is exploring similar goals—I’d be interested in hearing your perspective.
