Lab Environment slow network speed

Hi everybody,

I am currently doing the Lab Exercises of LFS258 Chapter 3 (Installation and Configuration). There are sometimes issues with extremely slow network speeds, so much so that I cannot finish an exercise within the 1h time limit.

For example, in Lab 3.2, step 2 is updating apt.
"apt update && apt upgrade -y"

Normal enough. However, I am currently bandwidths of ~10kB/s and so this step could not even complete within one hour.

What can I do about that?

Hi Chris,

no, this value came from apt, which (occasionally) reports the bandwidth.
I tried again today, but the network seems to be still very slow.
I am in Lab 3.2. - Grow the cluster, on the worker node.

For example, when trying to install socat, it takes me more than 3 minutes.

At this pace, unfortunately, there is no chance I can complete the lab.
