How to Transfer cPanel Account to Another Server?

Transferring a cPanel account to another server is a common task when changing hosting providers or upgrading your server. Fortunately, cPanel provides several ways to migrate accounts safely.

Method 1: Transfer cPanel Account Using Full Backup

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Go to Backup Wizard or Backup section.
  3. Click Full Account Backup.
  4. Download the backup file to your computer.
  5. Upload the backup to the new server.
  6. Ask the hosting provider to restore the backup on the new server.

This method transfers website files, databases, emails, and settings together.

Method 2: Transfer Using WHM Transfer Tool

If you have root access, the WHM Transfer Tool can migrate accounts directly between servers.

  1. Log in to WHM on the new server.
  2. Open Transfer Tool.
  3. Enter the old server’s login credentials.
  4. Select the cPanel accounts you want to transfer.
  5. Start the migration process.

WHM will automatically copy files, databases, and email accounts.

Alternative Method: Backup Emails Using a Professional Tool

Sometimes users only need to migrate emails or want a safer backup before transferring the server. In such cases, a professional utility like Cigati IMAP Backup Tool can be helpful.

The Cigati IMAP Backup Tool allows users to back up emails from IMAP-supported services and save them in multiple formats. It helps securely migrate mailbox data before moving your cPanel account to another server, reducing the risk of email data loss.

Migrating a cPanel account to another server can be done through full backups or the WHM Transfer Tool. However, to ensure email data safety during migration, using a reliable third-party solution like the Cigati IMAP Backup Tool can provide an additional layer of protection.
