Welcome to the Linux Foundation Forum!

Saying goodbye to Microsoft, Windows, and "big tech" platforms in general.

I refuse to install Win11 and has planned a complete move to Linux during this year. I was just about to install my first distro but figured I should probably learn more about Linux first.

Linux is, I hope, a way for me to engage with technology and computers more as a mechanic and a luddite (wich is not something that opposes innovation and technology as such).

I'm in my late 40s and my interest in digital technology began with the Commodore 64. The last 20 years, I've not been all that interested in the inner workings of computers and therefore been an Apple user. However, I built a new PC (for gaming, every day use and music production) a few years ago that sparked new interest.

I loath the way "big tech" works today and the pure consumer approach of technology. I love DIY (both as cultural practice and the direct building stuff to use), repair as resistance and empowerment, and open source. I cannot code (if you don't count some general Basic-commands i remember from my childhood).
