Mac Users: How time-consuming was the initial setup and adaptation?

Hello, I'm a Technical Product Manager starting the course to learn CKAD. The material seems Windows-centric, but I use a Mac.

Mac users, did the setup and lab work take significantly more time due to the platform difference?

Thanks for the insight!

    Hi @techiezameer,

The course materials have been written for the Ubuntu Linux OS - so it is neither Mac nor Windows centric. However, they leverage x86/AMD64 compatible packages and images.

Therefore the lab environment can be set up in a few different ways:

    • Use Ubuntu cloud VM instances and use a local browser and a terminal application to complete the lab exercises.
    • Spin up local x86/AMD64 VMs preferably through hypervisors/emulators capable of running x86/AMD64 guest VMs on the host system.
    • Spinning up Apple Silicon ARM guest VMs on the host system may require tweaks to the installation and configuration scripts and introduce incompatibility issues for a few exercises.

    Regards,
    -Chris
