Best practices for creating education-focused dashboards in microlearning platforms?

I’m currently exploring how to design more effective microlearning dashboards that work across devices—something similar in purpose (though not in complexity) to the educational environments you’d see in a student portal like the DeVry Student Portal
.

While LF’s microlearning platform serves professional learners, I’m curious how others thinking about educational dashboards—especially in the context of lightweight training systems—approach these challenges:

What UI components or layout structures help surface progress, due tasks, and quick-access lessons without clutter?

Are there recommended frameworks (CSS/JS) or patterns well-suited for microlearning dashboards?

How do sysadmins keep these dashboards responsive and performance-efficient, particularly in mobile-first contexts?

Would love to learn from anyone who’s built or taught via microlearning portals, or has thoughts on designing performance-friendly, student-centric dashboards.
