Welcome to the Linux Foundation Forum!

What is a PMM doing in a devoloper space?

Hi all,

I'm a product marketing manager currently expanding my Linux knowledge through the Linux Foundation certification. While I'm still early in the journey, I’m specificllay focused on learning how Linux is used in dedicated devices—think kiosks, point-of-sale systems, and digital signage (e.g., a drive-thru system at McDonald’s).

I understand Linux's appeal in terms of openness, control and security. But as Im supporting a team building out a Linux-based product for these dedicated devices, I'm looking to better understand the real-world pain points and daily frustrations developers face in this space.

Specifically:

  • What challenges do you encounter managing or deploying Linux on these types of devices?
  • Are there gaps in mobile device management (MDM) or fleet orchestration for Linux that you wish were better addressed?
  • What “I wish this existed” features would make your life easier?

Your feedback will help shape the direction as we move out of beta.

Thanks in advance for your time and insight.
