Chapter 5.2: demo_api_requests_duration_seconds_count metric not available

In the chapter 5.2 lab, the instruction says to fire demo_api_requests_duration_seconds_count metric. However, even after starting the prometheus_demo_service at 3 separate ports, I don't see any such metric in the explorer. There are other metrics starting with demo_, but not the one in the subject line.
