CKA Exam: When the Official Curriculum Doesn’t Match the Reality

I just took the CKA exam, and I’d like to share an important heads-up — without disclosing any exam content, of course.

Since the changes introduced in February 2024, the exam seems to cover themes that diverge from the official curriculum provided by the CNCF.

For example, one entire domain that should account for 25% of the score — cluster installation — wasn’t touched at all in my test.

I can’t give examples, but I strongly recommend checking recent feedback on forums and communities before taking the exam. Some topics come out of nowhere and could seriously throw you off if you’ve only studied the documented scope.

If you want to know what topics actually show up in the exam, there’s no other way — you’ll have to browse through community forums and discussion threads.

Bottom line: don’t rely solely on the CNCF syllabus. Get exposure to a wider range of Kubernetes tasks, including real-world tools and configurations.

Good luck to all future candidates!
