Welcome to the Linux Foundation Forum!

Hello

Hello, my name is Jan, from Belgium.

In the '80's of last centuries, I was very much into the processor architecture and instruction set of the Intel 8086 processor. Professionally, I was part of the development of a cross-system debugger aimed at helping developers create and test software for a 8086 based telephone exchange system. As such I wrote assembler code that allowed the tester to (temporary) hold the native execution of a program (written in a Pascal like HLL but running on one of the 1000 8086 CPU's in the exchange), and read out the value of the HLL level variables. Quite a feat in those days.

Since then, i have pursued other venues in IT (PM, Enterprise Architect, etc).

Now that I am retired, I am here to investigate and support an Open Source (finally!!!!!) venue for a new generation of CPU

Hi Jan. inspiring that you are curious and planning to work on latest CPUs. exiting times of 80s where tech was growing. Would love to hear and get inspired from you. Welcome.

  • Great to have expert like you in the RISC-V development life cycle, which is getting more into prominence now.
