LFS242 - New Version Now Live (03.13.2025)

Hello!

A new version of LFS242 is now live, featuring key updates and improvements:

• Lab updates: All labs have been rerun and tested on Ubuntu 24.04.
• Fluent Bit configuration: The majority of configurations have transitioned to YAML in line with Fluent Bit 3.2 changes. Labs 1 & 2 still use classic configurations, but YAML is used exclusively afterward.
• Text updates: Descriptions of Fluent Bit configurations have been revised to reflect YAML-based settings.

• Updated program versions:

  • Fluentd v1.18 on Ruby 3.2
  • Fluent Bit v3.24
  • Kubernetes 1.32
  • Elasticsearch 8 (now with authentication support for ES containers)

• Repository-based versioning: The setup now follows the modern repository-based installation method for Ubuntu.

• Updated container references: Various image references have been updated to match recent Q1 2025 tags available on DockerHub.
• Visual enhancements: Additional improvements for a better learning experience.
