Ubuntu Server on a Raspberry Pi as Lab Environment

Sorry if this is being ask previously or if I'm asking ahead of time.

Just saw that we are starting our course by setting up a lab env in Google Cloud. I was wondering if an Ubuntu Server where I can SSH would be sufficient as a lab env?

The recommendation is to provision two VMs for the lab environment.
