Hi,

I'm following the steps outlined in Lab 3.1 - Install Kubernetes.
I get the following error when I run the command below:

Error:

 kubeadm init --config=kubeadm-config.yaml --upload-certs --node-name=cp \

  | tee kubeadm-init.out

[init] Using Kubernetes version: v1.30.8
[preflight] Running pre-flight checks
error execution phase preflight: [preflight] Some fatal errors occurred:
[ERROR Mem]: the system RAM (954 MB) is less than the minimum 1700 MB

The RAM on the vm is 8 GB, so I'm not sure why I'm hitting this limit.

Any suggestions? thank you!

  • Hi @aganpathi,

What hypervisor or cloud is hosting your VMs? Can you provide screenshots of the VM resources (CPU, mem, disk)?

  • Hi Chris,

Thanks for the response. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you as I was out due to holidays.
I am using Google Cloud Platform and created an E2 VM with 2vCPU and 8 GB RAM.

I had deleted the resources since I was out and did not want to incur charges.
Let me recreate the resources and send you the screenshot.
