How to enable compression and encryption for entire Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 filesystems

Hello Guys,

I want to enable filesystem level compression for Ext2,Ext3,Ext4 file systems, so that every file created on file system. Also similar thing I want to do for encrypting every file on file system. For file level compression I know chattr command , but that will compress the file after I create file and that I have to set for each file manually.

Please help me.

Thanks,

Yogesh

I don't believe ext filesystems support compression, and encrytion support was added very recently by google for which you need the latest kernel.

If you really need compression I can reccomend BTRFS it works really well

BTRFS isn't really a good choice, since it's not stable yet.
