Welcome to the Linux Foundation Forum!

LFS258 setup, VPC has no subnets

I'm trying to setup GCE and create the control plane VMs (9 mins 30s)
It says I should select the VPC I created in the previous step (i.e the stuff at 6 minutes).
I created the VPC and it has a subnet

When I go to create the VM and try to assign it to my VPC, the create says I have no subnets.

I notice the create VM segment of this video is not the same recording as the first segment of the video.

How do i work out why my VM can't use the subnet in my VPC ?

The error i get when creating the VM is "No subnetworks in this region". Do I need to create a subnet in a different region ?

i have created my subnet in europe-west12, and I'm trying to create my VM in europe-west12. My named VPC appears in the list, but I still have no subnets.

I notice i can select the 'default' VPC. Why can't I just do that ?

(This set up is getting in the way of actually getting to the LFS258 course content)

the answer to this was in the creation of the vpc, i had chosen the default strategy of "custom" in "subnet creation mode" and I should have chosen "automatic". Seems a bit odd that the default leads you down a non-functional path
