    Hi @bnaifer ,

It seems you are having a quota issue. Please take a look at the GCP documentation about this:

    https://cloud.google.com/compute/resource-usage

    Regards,
    Luis.

  • Hi,

It would be nice to tell us (LF gurus) if it is possible to have a quota that fits the instructions written in the chapter : Using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

As you the link given above by Luis it says:
    Important:
If you're using the Google Cloud free trial, you cannot request a change to your quota.

    So what's next ? Amazon .... / Documentation-Course Updates?

    Regards,
    Aristide

    Hi Aristide,

The issues you could experience by the side of the cloud provider can vary. And currently there are several cloud service providers, so I don't think we could cover all the error messages you could get. For example, I never have experienced this specific issue, but I have ran into others.

    Regards,
    Luis.

    Hi @aristideboisseau,

Please keep in mind that cloud services providers are in this business to make a profit. This implies that fixed compute resources quota for free tier accounts are a common practice, and they are clearly limited to a bare minimum and offered as a sample to attract potential customers.

However, higher account quotas, with the possibility to increase them if needed, are the perks of paid cloud services accounts.

    Regards,
    -Chris

  • All right,

You should indeed update your documentation, as is (free tier), there is no way your students
could make this lab running in GCP.

    Aristide

I noticed that some regions on GCP have better GKE support than others. GKE didn't fully create a cluster for me on us-west-1, but I switched to us-central-1 and GKE worked for me.

Hi @aristideboisseau and @zacts, we have updated the documentation about using GCP and AWS, so it's all clear now.

    Regards,
    Luis.

  • Hi Luis,

    Thanks!

    Aristide
