EXT4 Filesystem "Guaranteed and Contiguous" Disk Space?

What does the phrase "guaranteed and contiguous" mean when referring to the disk space allocated via ext4 filesystems?

  • Hi @johncraig28, can you tell me what Chapter and Section are you talking about, so I can take a look, please?

    Thanks,

It means the space is not dynamically expanded (like it might be on virtual disks) as needed, and it is on adjacent portions of the disk. The exception about the contguous can be for LVM partitions.
