I'm about to edit the common-session.conf file, and the back slashes confused me, since they are not in the file this way, but only in the lab instructions:

session required pam_unix.so
session optional pam_oddjob_mkhomedir.so
session optional pam_sss.so

the slashes disappeared from my post. Not sure why.

the entries in the conf file did not have any slashes, so I went ahead and added the entry for oddjob without slashes.

In fact the back slashes are not required in the file. I'll take a loot at this.
