using pre-built images instead of goolge cloud

Could you tell me, please, can I use pre-built images instead of goolge cloud vpc ?

Sure you can.

I'm using KVM virtualization on my laptop.
It may depend on what you want to do though.
HA cluster with external ETCD topology might be difficult resource wise.

Basically you get an installed OS with some nice-to-havs (running sudo without password, LAB answers etc)

I've been reading material and I found the following sentences:

"Virtual machines such as KVM, VirtualBox, or VMware can also be used for lab systems. Putting the VMs on a private network can make troubleshooting easier.
Finally, using bare metal nodes with access to the Internet will also work for lab exercises.

Yes. You need to choose what Hypervisor to use.

If you're on Windows VMware Player might seem like a good choice since the images were created using VMware and have been tested on VMware Player, which is free.

Virtual Box should be fine and has the advantage that it is also free on Macs. (VMware fusion on Macs is inexpensive, but not free of cost). Occasionally you need to be careful of which disk driver is used (SCSI, SATA, etc) as different versions and distros make different default choices, so if things fail to boot this is the first thing to play with. Not very common, but it does happen.
