root password

Hello,
In the LFS211, Lab 1.1. Configuring the System for sudo, there's an instruction: "Launch a root shell by typing su and then giving the root password, not your user password."
How do I do this, I don't know the root password. Searching the internet I've found this article https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/ubuntu-linux-root-password-default-password/
Can someone explain this? Thanx.

It depends on your system. If you are on Ubuntu you don't need to do this as the root account is hidden and you just use sudo. Other distributions do this now as a default as well (such as Fedora). Without specifying your distribution and version it is hard to help you. In short, if sudo already works for your account you don't need to configure this to use sudo.
