Laptop BIOS

This is the first laptop giving me hard time. Apparently, the BIOS settings are due to Windows, but there must be a way to change these somehow. The manufacturer told me they don't support Linux. The problem is the so called 'modern standby'. I run a dual boot, and managed - of all distros - to install only Ubuntu (tried out several). In /sys/power/mem_sleep the only option this BIOS allows is s2idle. I have crashes upon wake, and battery also drains with lid closed. Is there some trick to enable normal sleep?
