Hello everyone,

I just want to signal, in case someone encounters the same problem as me, that pam_tally2 is deprecated and replaced with faillock.

Solution:

To solve this lab you need to add pam_faillock.so authfail deny=2 to pam configuration files.
You can use faillock to see failed login attempts
And faillock --user user1 --reset to unlock user1 account

Comments

  • Same with me. I am also not able to perform this lab due to pam_tally2 not found. After following the lab instructions and adding the pam_tally2 in /etc/pam.d/password-auth I did the reboot of my system and I am facing an issue now which is my user login attempt is not working.

Not sure whether these are old lab insturctions or OS has been updated? Any support on this?
