Knowledge check - Question 6.2

In which mode a DNS server may run? Select all answers that apply.
I gave answers as:
Authoritative
Forwarding (Wrong answer)
Caching
Can someone tell me why that's wrong? There are forwarding DNS servers. Forwarding is not considered a mode that a DNS server can run as?

    Hi Timothy,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The forwarding function is an option that can be enabled on an authoritative or a caching name server.
    Good question.

Thank you for your response Lee. So forwarding is not a mode in of itself, but an option that can be enabled on an authoritative or caching server. Got it.
