Confused by some possible answers in the LFCS questions

I'd like to ask about what is allowed in the LFCS exam.
In the first question of the sample LFCS exam http://puu.sh/FAsSp/925377e255.png , am I allowed to install nano to make the required changes?
In the second question http://puu.sh/FAsUm/cc08253f73.png , can i just manually check the IP and make the script paste it (echo "192.172.14.1")? If not, would an "ip r/route" suffice or do I have to extract only the IP address with awk/sed. I really want to keep going but I can't because there's a lot of confusion about how I'm supposed to solve it.
Thanks ahead!

This forum is exclusively for the LFS201 course, not about LFCS.

this is not an authoritative answer, but I'm pretty sure you can install packages from the normal system (e.g., apt-get or yum install nano) and nano should be installed by default on any distribution I've ever seen anyway. Certainly vi would be there too.

Hi @rogersjoshmac ,
I think that a question like this implies to extract/obtain the IP with a command or commands. I don't think it's supposed to be manually entered, because in that case it doesn't make any sense as a script.
So, I think ant scripting question like that -at least another thing is specified- will expect a command to get the information. In this case it would be something like this:
luis@starseedstation:~$ ip route show
default via 192.168.1.1 dev wlo1 proto dhcp metric 600
169.254.0.0/16 dev wlo1 scope link metric 1000
172.17.0.0/16 dev docker0 proto kernel scope link src 172.17.0.1 linkdown
172.18.0.0/16 dev br-520cd078840f proto kernel scope link src 172.18.0.1 linkdown
172.19.0.0/16 dev br-063cb39044ea proto kernel scope link src 172.19.0.1 linkdown
192.168.1.0/24 dev wlo1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.10 metric 600luis@starseedstation:~$ ip route show | grep default | awk '{print $3}'
192.168.1.1So, the command ==> ip route show | grep default | awk '{print $3}' may go in the second output line. I bet there would be better ways to get this done, this is just one way.
