How do I add certain Icons to desktop?

Greetings, I have the KDE version.
I need to know how to place icons such as my scrabble game, a note pad, google, yahoo, new folder, solitare,
and such on the desktop for easy access.

Where do I find the various games? When I do phone business, it's nice to play a game of some
kind while on hold or whatever.

Where is there something like a Windows note pad?

Here's a tough one- I need Microsoft word for my work, will that work on KDE?
